Sikhism History

A religion founded by Guru Nanak in 1469 and developed over the next 240 years by nine successive Gurus, the last and the tenth Guru being 'Sri Guru Gobind Singh.' In 1699 Guru Gobind Singh created 'Khalsa' and the 'Living Guru' called 'Sri Guru Granth Sahib.' Khalsa is a pure Sikh who has been Baptiste in accordance with the 'paul of Khanda' and follow the sikh rehit and conventions. Living Guru is an embodiment of sikh scriptures i.e Gurbani and hyms of ten Gurus and others of equal standing more commonly known as 'Bhagats.' Today there are in excess of 20 million sikhs all over the world and Sikhism is the fifth largest religion in the world.
